Hi!  Welcome to my little corner of the web. Walk with me as I explore my faith, wrestle with the ins and outs of life in community, and uncover the delights of design and other artistic gems.  I hope that, as I share my journey through fear and faith, depression and joy, doubt and hope that you will be encouraged and strengthened for the challenges in your own life.  I would love nothing more than to hear your story, so please join in the conversation with your comments and e-mails.

Writing these profiles feels so awkward – like I have to pick and choose the Important Roles in my life and prioritize them.  At any given moment one or more of those hats may be on top, soon to be replaced by another!  So here, in no particular order, are the things I want you to know about me.

In 2009 I married the love of my life.  Quite literally, I had loved him for years before we dated and married!  The Hubs is my adventure-loving, imaginative, faith-filled better half.  He is an amazing Children’s Pastor and I love watching him use his God-given talents to share Jesus with kids.

For most of my life, I did not think I wanted children, but a few years ago God changed my heart.  Our son, Johnathan, was born in June of 2013 followed quickly by his sister Zoe in January of 2015.  Motherhood has been a wild ride, but one I am so glad I get to experience!  Most days I have no clue what I am doing.  And that is OK.

My faith in God is very important to me.  I am a Christian, but I know that in our culture that can mean many different things.  It’s more than a religion to me, it’s a deep and personal relationship with a loving and merciful God.  He brings hope-filled light to the darkest places and abundant joy in the hardest moments.  This relationship is not something I arrived at blindly or without struggle.  I wrestle with doubts, fears, and frustrations because there are so many things I don’t understand about Him and this broken and beautiful world we live in.  The one thing I can’t deny, though, is the change He has made in my life and the lives of people I know. That is the best testimony I can give to His presence and goodness!

I am a licensed architect, though I am taking some time off to be a SAHM.  I love architecture, and if you see me staring into space my brain is probably solving some design problem!  I am excited to see how God will use this passion in the future.

I consume books (or rather they consume me!), love a good cup of coffee, and prefer salty rather than sweet snacks.  My favorite things to Pin are recipes and craft ideas, especially anything that involves sewing or embroidery.  We love to camp and hike, and are experts in the art of hammock napping in the woods.  I dream of one day traveling to Italy, but will settle for a long weekend at the beach for now.  If I had to pick an alternate career I would be a pastry chef.  Gardening is one of my favorite ways to relax but I hate to mow.  I am a shy introvert who gets knots in her stomach when thinking about making small talk with strangers.  This is a complete mystery to my extrovert husband.

I can’t wait to get to know you more.  Thank you for traveling with me!

Heather
